Saima Hamid Baba is a Doctorate, International Climate Change Activist and Environmentalist. She is the Co-Founder of CERD Foundation which aims to provide platform for youth to conserve nature especially medicinal plants. She is currently conducting research via an affiliation with Centre of Research for Development (CORD) and Department of Chemistry at the University of Kashmir. Saima does research in plant stress biology, genetic diversity of high altitudinal medicinal plants, isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds. She has published more than 30 research articles in Frontier's in Plant Sciences/Sociology, Wiley, Springer, Elsevier, MDPI and other reputed international journals. She has one authored book and one edited volume with Wiley Press, London.
Saima is a YOUNGO member of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and has spoken in global forums on climate change including UN, ASEAN and AAYFO (Asia-Africa Youth Foundation).
She joined as a representative of North India at South Asian Travel Awards (SATA, 2022) at Male, Maldives.
Saima is also an active Mentor at the KEI (Kashmir Education Initiative) which is a USA based Non-Profit Organization that supports the education of underprivileged children. Saima has been involved in many programs with the KEI and has positively impacted the lives of many young children and guided them in their career paths.
Saima is also a Member of the SEED Foundation based in Kashmir and has been involved in a project focused on wetland conservation.
aima has been featured in more than 30 publications discussing about diverse fields in biological sciences and has 8 years of research experience. She is also an expert in medicinal plant research in Western Himalayas. Saima is regular columnist of magazine Island Chief Maldives, Maldives. While she has written many articles on diverse fields of plants for many local and international newspapers and magazines including Rising Kashmir, Brighter Kashmir and Island Chief Maldives.
